The subject of equities deals with characteristics, opportunities and risks of equity investments. In addition, shareholders' rights, equity prices and indices, as well as exchange trading are presented.
Furthermore, several methods and key figures for the valuation of companies and shares are explained. Finally, a number of investment strategies from the perspective of the client are presented.

By studying this module, you will achieve the following learning goals:
- You will understand the nature of the share and can describe the rights of the shareholder.
- You will know about the basic principles and elements of corporate governance.
- You will know the different forms of equity securities and can distinguish them with regard to their transferability and voting rights.
- You will know about the different methods of issuing shares.
- You will know about the various ways in which a company can increase its paid-in capital and perform calculations relevant to rights issues. You will also know about the ways in which paid-in capital can be reduced.
'Equity trading'
By studying this module, you will achieve the following learning goals:
- You will understand the fundamental differences between different types of stock indices.
- You will know about the primary and secondary market.
- You can advise a client on questions about share trading and stock exchange orders.
- You will know about the different methods of issuing shares.
'Company valuations'
By studying this module, you will achieve the following learning goals:
- You will understand the concepts of time value of money and discounting.
- You will be familiar with companies’ main assessment procedures.
- In particular, you will be aware of the basic principles of valuation using the net asset value method and the discounted cash flow method and be able to explain their differences.
'Equity analysis'
By studying this module, you will achieve the following learning goals:
- You will be familiar with the basic procedures for the valuation of shares based on business valuation methods.
- You will learn important indicators for the valuation of shares and be able to communicate them to a client.
- You will understand the different concepts of fundamental, technical and behavioral stock analysis.
'Equity strategy'
By studying this module, you will achieve the following learning goals:
- You understand the objectives of investment strategy taking into account the client’s risk tolerance.
- You are able to explain fundamental tax aspects of investing in equities to the client.
- You are aware of the central importance of diversification for the success of investments.
- You understand fundamental equity management strategies and understand the challenges for investments in equities resulting from the current economic and financial market environment.
Method
Self-study via interactive e-learning module with discoverable content and videos plus final learning control via online test.
Learning control
Your online self-control test consists of 15 to 20 multiple choice questions. You will pass the test if you reach at least 70% of the maximum score.
Period of access
12 months from the registration and account creation.
Accreditation
